Pin It Weekly #110

Hope you enjoy reading!
My kids will have such a different library experience than I had...

Isabel McNamara looks at a book that is available in a Little Free Library designed to look like a robot and displayed in Oshtemo Township, Mich.

"Yes, a Little Free Library is 'just' a box of books, but that’s like saying that a public library is 'just' a building with books. There’s obviously a lot more to the equation."

The little free library movement has promoted community worldwide... a barn!!!! maybe.

Triblive.com: "Little Free Library is a project born in Madison, Wis. in 2009 to encourage the neighbourly sharing of books. The libraries look like birdhouses, are set on posts near the sidewalk and hold a dozen or more volumes on any subject that appeals to its builder. Passersby can choose a book, leave a book, or in fine weather, sit down and read on the grass".

Little Free Library created by sculptor Aaron Dysart for Silverwood Park, by Silver Lake, Minneapolis.

Cool for a Little Free Library

Book Garden - Little Free Library What is a Little Free Library? It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.

It's not a room, technically, but I love this little outdoor library....

Little Library Newspaper Stand - not the same as newsletter but i just had to show you it somehow walshy!

  1. I love a good old-fashioned card index (and microfiche - remember that?)I know google is an amazing resource but this made me feel quite nostalgic for the old way. Love the free libraries; the next village to us has a box in its bus shelter: serves the purpose but not so pretty.

  2. Wonderful LFL's! Some are so creative, and all of them are a great service to their communities.

I did a post recently on my book blog about some friends who ran into trouble with their LFL. The Danger of Little Free Libraries
