The Henry Ford: a working farm and inventors

I'm writing these crazy posts as I think of things...not in the order that we experienced them. Sometimes it's a chat with Richard or uploading photos or texting with the kids that brings a place or experience to mind. 

Photos reminded me of The Henry Ford. We spent an entire day and were able to visit the museum and Greenfield Village. Believe me, we missed out on things. Lots of things. Millions of things. No kidding...The Henry Ford has a collection of 26 million artifacts. 

May be too much for a day. And we thought we could do it all! Ha! Well, Henry Ford may have the last laugh, but wow! did we learn a thing or two. These picture are from Greenfield Village.  I hope you can appreciate them: I walked a couple of miles in a picturesque little town for them.

These are from outside Thomas Edison and Henry Ford's workshops which are also part The Henry Ford.  The two men were friends and their families even spent vacations together. It's only practical to think that they encouraged and inspired each other's work.

Tourists can pay to ride a Model T car, a wagon pulled by a draft horse, or horse and buggy. We walked so that we could enter the buildings and take a leisurely stroll around Greenfield Village.

In it's mission statement The Henry Ford says it is dedicated to provide "unique educational experiences based on authentic objects, stories, and lives from America’s traditions of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and innovation. Our purpose is to inspire people to learn from these traditions to help shape a better future."

As such it includes all manner of creative invention from 300 years of American history.
