It's springtime here in Louisiana and we've been getting those odd days when it's hot and muggy one day, chilly the next, then goodness knows what on the following day.  The only thing to do is carry a sweater, boots, flip flops, and a wide-brim hat and rain gear at all times.  I try to keep most of these things in the car, because it's impossible to know just what to expect.  



Yesterday, 8 a.m. was pitch dark; 10 a.m. was raining and cold; and by 3 p.m. we were begging for the A/C.  Today was chilly and at Caki's tee-ball game I had to borrow Meggan's jacket.  

I'd brought my sweater in and left it at school.  Ahh, Louisiana!  We say, "if you don't like the weather wait 10 minutes."

And a Quilt Finds a Home

A couple of years ago Richard and I went to a quilt show not far from home.  Our grandson Lane came along for the ride and followed Poppa around through the show.  They paid $5 each to come in and spent about five minutes looking at quilts.  It seemed like such a waste of money, until Lane won a charm pack of sweet fabrics.  

I turned that pack into a small quilt by adding some fabrics from my stash.  When it was finished, I offered the little quilt to Lane since I felt the fabric belonged to him.  Turns out that for all he was proud of winning, he wasn't so much into the flowers.

Today I offered the quilt to a friend whose mother just moved into the nursing home in the hopes that it would brighten her mom's room.  I think the flowers may be happy to have a home.

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: l e a v e s

It's almost summertime here in Louisiana.  Based on the temperatures alone, we're already there. And as you can see of my screen capture from The Weather Channel, it's not getting any better.  The hot air and cold air meet and cause thunderstorms. 

Everything is already saturated and soggy, so more rain is not something we want or need.  You'd think that would cool the place down, but instead, the sun comes out and everything is boiling hot (almost in the literal sense).

One good outcome of all this rain and heat is that we have a tropical clime which helps everything to grow.  Trees, shrubs, weeds, and grass are happily getting tall, stretching out and putting on a multitude of leaves.

So LEAVES it is this week!  Be inspired...
