Sunday Quilt Inspiration: O R A N G E

It's been a while since I used a color for inspiration and it's possible that I've never used orange. Such a pretty, hot color that can be used with many other colors. It's one that was rarely mixed with anything other than its analogous colors: red and yellow. Today, anything goes, and I've seen orange mixed with just about any other color, so don't be shocked by some of the loud, wild colors that may appear.

What are you pinning this week?  I'm pinning fruit.  Sure, why not?

Just kidding.  I've been looking at and pinning a few photos of artwork with fruit.  It's part of my preparation for the current quilt.

Finally, I thought I'd introduce you to 

Nerdist Podcast, which I found through Letters of Note when I read the letter from Nerdist producers asking Tom Hanks to appear on the show.  Letters of Note provided the link to the podcast--I clicked. 

The letter on the right is a picture of Tom Hanks' letter, which he typed on the 1934 typewriter that the editors gave him when they popped the question.  Brilliant, huh? He agreed.

Oranges and lemons and limes, oh my!

 We’ve gotten some very cold weather in the last few days—freezing at night and bitter winds during the day.  Today, finally, it’s beginning to warm up.  The sun is bright and warm and the wind has died down to bearable. 

While I have not enjoyed this cold weather, the hunters love it.  Ducks and geese fly overhead looking for a place to roost.  Deer are moving around, and wild hogs are plentiful.  Rich has taken Lane on a couple of deer hunts and he bagged his first deer.  He is one proud 13-year-old!

The cold weather is good for the citrus fruit hanging on our baby trees.  Since the first frost last week, every orange, kumquat, lemon and so on has changed color.  I’ve picked a few to enjoy, but they are still more sour than sweet, so I decided to give them a little more time.  I surely hope they sweeten up in a few days because they are so very tempting!
