what would happen if...

Image result for ifI ask myself that question maybe too often--it sometimes gets me in trouble. My husband, who always seems to have answers, wonders how at 57 my curiosity and mouth get me into problems I often cannot fix. I have an easy answer: if is a small question

Who knows where it will lead? I guess that's where the real problem lies. He seems to know where questions will lead. I have to find out for myself.

I start with such a small question and ask it again. And then again. Before I know what has transpired, I've questioned myself into a corner. And just as quickly I can't get out.

Part of the reason that I can answer questions is that I keep asking. I like to know "Why?" "What if..." "How?"

And the questions don't quit coming. No matter how much trouble they get me into. No matter the answers. Even when the answers are not what I want or hope or dream.

What do you hope the children of today learn on their way to adulthood?

Retired! the gifts (pt 2)

My family gave me such thoughtful retirement gifts that I thought I'd share them with you. The little Scentsy pot above came from Rory and Meggan. I wish this funky design came in fabric. :)

This pretty fabric is from one of my cousins. She and her mom are both quilters, and Shelly was on a shop hop of sorts. Her vacation took her from Texas to Arkansas to Louisiana. She probably visited every quilt shop along the way and picked these up especially for my retirement.

This old dictionary (1939 copyright) is from the sisters. Sid picked it up on a recent antiquing haunt. She loves antique shopping, even when there is nothing on her shopping list, so when she ran across this Twenthieth Century Dictionary, she immediately thought of my retirement. Are you ready for the best part?

It's unabridged! Huge! Mammoth! Even bigger than I've seen in some libraries. It must be one for large public libraries or perhaps a college campus. I can't imagine that smaller libraries could have afforded this. (I know all about those budgets.) I should weigh it. Measure it. Count the words.

A typical page--look at the tiny size of the font! Never mind on the counting words.

Added to the dictionary is this beautiful little painting. The moment I opened the package I asked if it's to remember how much I loved my students. The smile on Sid's face said it all. Angie kept giving Sid credit but they were in this together. Sid texted pictures of her great "finds" to Angie for approval. They could not have chosen better.

I wish everyone had sisters who were as loving as these two.

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: S K E W E D

Pallet Art Natural Shell Skewed Heart Wall Hanging Rustic Shabby Chic Seaglass Sharksteeth Nautical Seashore by maliakalikina: Skewed--meaning off center, wonky, an unusual state, unbalanced.

Modern quilters love skewed things. Off center objects, uneven designs, crooked lines. I tend to visit their camp and hang out there. So I figured it's time to deal with this idea. It's an interesting concept and one that makes quilting a bit easier.

Well, except that you still have to apply all of the elements of design to your now-skewed quilt design.

Classic seaside stripes, slightly skewed and gussied up with a scarf collar. By Sparrow.:

Types of triangles, 6th grade math, math, 6th grade math anchor charts, triangles, acute, equilateral, right triangle, isosceles triangle, obtuse triangle, scalene triangle, congruent, angles, triangles anchor chart: There's this wall poster from a math classroom.

Don't let the pretty designs fool's still math! But somehow I get that the triangles are skewed, except for the equalateral triangle.

Realise MMX Skewed Tripod for . Strong. Nice inlay for the stretchers.: Gary Petersen’s skewed geometric paintings call forth analogies to music and architecture, a realm of vertical intervals and diagonal supports spliced into a precarious balance.:
