Issues and Problems and Struggles

when little bad things start happening, they seem to rain down on a person, don't they?  We have some little challenges.  Lots of little challenges.  Nothing earth-shattering, mind you.  But time consuming and frustrating, never-the-less.  Of course, that weekend is over now, and I'm already in Tuesday.

We spent most of our weekend in New Orleans at a leadership conference for some of my students.  I fell in love with the carpeting and snapped a picture.

I see some beautiful designs here and in the coordinating wall art.

The yard is beginning to green up, our ornamental pear trees are already finished blooming, and the bridal wreaths are taking their turn.  Soon we'll be enjoying the colors of the azaleas and the scent of wisteria.  It's amazing how long our springs last.  I hope you are enjoying your weather, also.  If you're still fighting snow and ice, hang in there for a little longer.  The warming sun will soon appear on your horizon, and when that happens, we'll be sweltering here in the deep South.
Have a great week,
Mary

High Test Alert!

We are definitely on high test alert.  Everyday we seem to spend some time talking about the test, testing for the test, preparing for the test, or testing!  Whew!  I feel sorry for the students, but I will not (can not, must not) let up.  They grab that moment and run.

So I'm spending hours every afternoon preparing for tomorrow and the test.  I'm starting to feel sorry for myself.

Join me in my pity party: testing mode at work, no quilting in the studio, messes at home, head cold everywhere.  See, a full smorgasbord.

Here's hoping you're having a great week.

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: T W O

Guess what?  I already did yellow.  I thought some of those pins looked familiar, but who can keep up?  Since that's sort of cheating, I'll post another Sunday Quilt Inspiration.

Buttons the puppy was the runt of the litter and was rejected by her mother, but at Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, he found someone who loves him unconditionally: Kitty the kitten.

TGI Friday

Question: what happens after a long week of teaching?

Answer: nothing!

Absolutely nothing, in fact.  I was barely able to stay awake to play school with Marley.  She loves being the teacher...so long as her students are quiet and pay attention.  That means sit, don't talk and look at her.  I have the first two down, but keeping my eyes open, well, not so much.

Maybe tomorrow I can go into the studio and relax.  Maybe there will be a few little skirts or skorts for the grandchildren who are coming this weekend.  They loved the first set so much, I'm encouraged to play some more.

Happy weekend,
Mary

Pin It Wednesday #57

Apologies all around for not posting "Pin It" last week.  I have not a clue what happened, except that I got the days mixed up by the zany weather.  We missed school on Tuesday because of the ice storm.  I guess in my head Wednesday was Monday.  Who knows what's in my head?  Yep, zany.

Since zany's the word, let's have a bit of fun.  How about...

Fun with felt pens

My grandchildren did this once when they were young, but the writing surfaces were the sleeping parents!  Yes, we had great fun with that zaniness.  While they go clean up, let's get a little more serious.  How about these beauties for fun?

Edwardian Tea Dress - c.1912.

~Ball gown 1908~

Have you ever wanted to dress up in one of these?  I mean, I could not get into any one of these and choosing ONE would be impossibly difficult but, oh, the fun.  I'd be thrilled to just see them in person.  Oh to touch, let me touch, please.  Please.

This next pin is not a quilt, but goodness, wouldn't it make a fantastic quilt?  I love the colors, the shapes, the almost randomness of everything about it.
