wild flowers and another spring

While we were traveling and having fun on our way to and from Niagara Falls, I discovered wild flowers in full bloom.

Since wild flowers bloom in April and May in Louisiana, it was a nice surprise to see them again in June.

Of course, I snapped a few pictures to prove to the in-laws that clover was blooming along with other very pretty plants.

We noticed these beautiful blue spruce trees throughout the Ohio-New York region.  In some places the trees are planted in thick lines, we assumed to create wind breaks for the winter.  I took photos of several trees because I was so enamored with them.  I've chosen one--a favorite, and I wish very much that they could survive in my yard.

Scenes from the navigator's seat

I did not get to drive very much while we were on vacation.  Covering 1,889 miles in seventeen days means sitting.  Lots of sitting.  Same seat sitting.  I do believe my hiney imprint is forever in the passenger seat.

There were times when we were able to stop along the road so that I could snap a photo or two.  More often I took pictures "on the fly," meaning while the truck was rolling at 45+ miles per hour.

I need to look back at photos to remember all that we did and saw as we traveled from the deep South to the high North, dividing the nation into (for us) the states east of our route and those to the west. It certainly helps in remembering where, exactly, some of the states are.

Remember those fifth grade geography tests on which we had to label all 50 states?  I failed at those.  No really failed.  My teacher kept giving me the test again and again.  For some reason I would miss several states.  Not always the same states.  Just several wrong ones.

Meaning enough to fail.  Meaning enough to have to take the test again.  And again.  I don't remember how that turned out, but I do know that I passed fifth grade.

I could probably pass that test now.  Just saying.

Niagara Falls video

Here's a quick video of Niagara Falls that I took while we were there last week.  Enjoy while we visit with the kids.  Sunday Quilt Inspiration coming later today.

Hey! Welcome back!

I know, it's been forever.  My apologies again for not posting for the last two weeks.

Who knew that vacation would be such a whirlwind of activity and take me to places with NO internet access? Does the whole state of New York not have internet? I doubt it, but at no time did I have access.  Oh, I had the computer, but with no wi-fi, I'm hopeless.

But that's all behind us, now.  And boy do I have some fun things to tell you about!  Big surprises, too!  Come back for the next few days: I will (as promised) try to catch up some of the posts that I've missed.  Tomorrow's post will be Sunday Quilt Inspiration.  Monday we'll have a Modern Monday post. Then on Tuesday I'll tell you about Niagara Falls.

After that I'll write about the many other things that we did and saw.  Not that I want anyone to think I'm bragging....really, I'm not.  I just had a wonderful time and want to share some of the awesomely beautiful things we did and saw.
