Sunday Quilt Inspiration: Pillow Party
Here are a few pillows that could either inspire quilts or have been inspired by quilts. The table runners that I've added sometimes are quite easily identifiable with the pillow, but sometimes it's not so easy. You'll see what I mean.

I had been playing around with the idea for this little quilt when my sister Angie suggested exactly that as a second giveaway. I listen to my big sis, sometimes. She occasionally has these great ideas, and I like to capitalize on those.

Pin It Weekly
Welcome back for Pin It Weekly. After I wrote a post earlier today to let everyone know where I've been, it occurred to me that it's also time for Pin It. You know how much I like sharing my pins, right? I just had to come back!
So first up is a board that is not mine. I mean, I love pincushions and have quite a few pinned, but there's no way I'm going to beat this one! "So, why not just share the board?" I asked myself. "Good question," I answered. "Do it!" came back the reply. And here we are. Since I don't know how the pinner may feel about my posting her name, I'll give you the link instead. Since she has 2000 pins, here are few of the interesting ones.

And since I seem to be pinning fun stuff tonight--it happens when you're so exhausted the brain refuses to work correctly--how about a few funnies before saying goodnight?
That last pin brings me to this newspaper fabric. I would love to find some for MY stash. If you know any info about it, please leave a comment so I can search for it. It will probably be much easier if I have some kind of information.

New Orleans Returned
Richard and I made a quick trip to New Orleans for the Teacher Leader Summit at the Convention Center. That was interesting, but more so was that we agreed to take along some grandchildren. While I was working, Richard was escorting a quaggle of kids through the zoo and aquarium.
I wanted to go to the new Insectarium, which was only two blocks from our hotel. It's one of the few places I have not visited, so I threatened serious harm should they go without me.
Instead, they made plans to go late Tuesday when I got out of meetings. Well, the problem with being a teacher during the summer is that I tend to read "fluff" stuff only.
That would translate into I didn't read the information giving the times at which the summit ended. Let's just say no one went to the Insectarium.
We have now returned from our trip, and let me tell you, the kids and grownups both are exhausted. We walked from the hotel to Bourbon Street so the kids could get a look around the city, ate dinner at Hard Rock Cafe (their favorite) and enjoyed ice cream on the stroll back.
Yesterday I went off to the conference while Rich and the kids went to Cafe du Monde for breakfast, took a streetcar ride to the zoo and enjoyed petting a roach while there. Then back downtown for the Aquarium where they petted a stingray and a baby shark. We always appreciate it when the kids can get their hands dirty.
There's really a couple of stories in this trip to New Orleans, but I need to remind you that today is the last day to enter the giveaway! I'll choose winners (yes, 2) tomorrow and post it as soon as I do. Even if you've entered, you may do so again.

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: S U N
I don't know what the weather is like in your corner of the world, but in Louisiana the sun is shining and bright and there's fresh, clean light streaming through the trees and shrubs. We got a rain yesterday and the three days prior, so every leaf and bug and frog is clean. They can't help but be clean, considering the deluge we've received. What that really means is that the sunlight is even brighter than normal. It bounses off of things and shines bright, happy rays. Am I enjoying it? Yes, from inside the house with the A/C on full blast because that bright sunlight is also hot. Rather it's more like HOT!
Of course, with this kind of sun shining down, it's easy to come up with an inspiritation motif.
Finding artwork with the sun motif is very easy to do: just do a simple search with the words "sun art."
And finding a few quilts in this theme is easy, also.
