IQA Houston {part 2} Tactile Architecture +

I finally uploaded all of the pictures from the Houston show onto the laptop. I cannot believe that I took 380 pictures! I must not have looked at the quilts.  Of course, some of those are duplicates because my phone is sensitive to touch (and I'm clumsy) but for the most part, I have at least 350 pictures--each one a different quilt.

There's no way I can show them all. My plan, instead, is to post about ten pictures per post sort of based around a theme. Since I didn't take many pictures of the signs, I'll try to remember what I was doing. I did get the show book, so maybe that will help.

Although these quilts might have fit into the Tactile Architecture exhibit, they were scattered throughout the hall in different exhibits. And that explains the + in the title.

The following quilts are from the Tactile Architecture exhibit, which is one of my favorite competitions.

Pin It Weekly #108

Because I've seen so many barns, covered bridges and other old structures recently, they've been on my mind.   Really on my mind, meaning that as soon as I was able to start pinning again, it's where I found myself.

Old Naheola Bridge at Pennington, AL (Railroad trestle with drawbridge that was also used for automotive traffic for many years.) ---- For additional details about this old bridge, go to www.ruralswalabama.org/attractions/old-naheola-bridge/.

I want to pin all of the photos that I've taken recently, but I haven't decided whether I want to create yet another board for my own photos or just add to the "water, works" board that I've now edited to include all of the water structures that I've found.

Just for fun, here are a few of the photos that I took of covered bridges in Ashtabula County, Ohio, while we were on vacation.

Beginning with the shortest bridge with an 18 foot span...

and ending with the longest bridge.

More pictures of covered bridges on a later date.

Pin It Weekly #97

Let's escape to some beautiful places for a little while....maybe a pretty little stone bridge deep in the woods or city park...

Regent's Canal ~ Camden Town, London, England

Devil’s Bridge ~ is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. Above the River Mynach on the edge of the village is an unusual bridge from which the village gets its English name.

"justeline says: The single arched stone bridge of Kokkorou named after its sponsor dating back to the 1750's...Epirus, Greece"

This is my Greece | Old bridge of Plaka over Arachthos river, a typical landscape of Epirus, Northwestern Greece. This bridge, built exclusively with stones in the 19th century, is considered to be the largest amongst the Balkan countries.

I always love to see the old covered one lane bridges. Autumn Arch, Central Park, NYC

Stone Bridge Waterfall, Clyde Valley, Scotland

Fairy Bridge! (Reelig Glen, Scotland) "The bridge and grotto in Reelig Glen, near Inverness. The story goes that they were built by the fairies living in the wood, which is why locals call it Fairy Glen rather than Reelig"
