Modern Monday and How much modern can a girl take?

That's a good question, isn't it?  How much modern can a girl take?  Or is there ever too much modern? I ask these questions because I just received two (yes, 2) boxes of modernities.  One was filled to the brim with a quilt top that you'll have to wait to see (apparently spreading a quilt on top of one's car is not the best way to snap a photo) and the first of my current in-the-mail modern project.  More on that when there's a bit more to report.

In the second box was this little modernity, just the last of the traveling quilts and the modern post of the day.  This whole traveling quilt stuff has been fun and fruitful and fantastic, but every good project has to be bound.  Eventually.  First we've got to fill in all the open spaces.

This is what it looks like now.  I added the block that is in the lower right corner.

And in the upper right in this photo.  The quilt top goes to at least one more person before it finds it's way to Marty, the eventual owner.

My goal was to create a maze, of sorts, using some of the colors already found in the quilt.  I wish I had a perfect match to the beautiful purple-y pink.

Two of my pieces had a touch of it, so I was quite happy to see that others had used some prints.

Visit Marty's blog and read her reaction to the quilt top.  I'm sure she will be reporting on it soon.  In the meantime, she has some hilarious goings-on with HuMan (the Mr. Marty of the house).

Happy Quilting,

A very interesting way to make a quilt. The end result is really great.
Loved the elephant parade, too.

This is such a fun way to make a quilt - and every person has a different take on things.
