Like everyone else, the members of the Cotton Quilters' Guild have been under quarantine since March. Our last meeting was in February. Then, in March we had our annual sewing room tour. It was wonderful yesterday to see all the happy smiles and the beautiful projects everyone's been working on.
Of course, we had a bit of business to take care of. We've decided that hiring a bus to go to the Gulf States show in Slidell would be too difficult at this point. Many of the people who had planned to help us fill the bus have dropped out. Also there's still no guarantee that the show will happen. What we decided is that we'll cancel the bus and, if possible, carpool. The money that we made on our show will help pay for gas for those who drive.
There were a few other items of business, but mostly we visited and talked and ate cake. And talked about quilts and families and the state of this pandemic. And we shared quilts and works in progress and blocks. In other words, it was what my daddy used to call "a coffee clutch." But without the coffee because this Louisiana summer is way too hot. Especially after 1 o'clock. Out-of-doors.
Sitting on Irma's lovely patio was our feeble attempt to social distance. It was quite feeble indeed. But we managed and Mrs. Bertha even gave a great presentation for our block of the month project. It's the block in this quilt below, though I can't think of the name for anything right now. Do you remember the name? Please share, I'd really appreciate it!
