Getting Ready for the Cotton Quilters Guild Show

Richard dropped off two quilts for the Cotton Quilters Show.  It's set for next weekend and I'm a bit excited about having these two quilts in the show.  One is the barn quilt I made in the summer.

The second one is a smaller triptych, each panel with one butterfly silhouette.  I forgot to get a photo before it left, so when I get it back I'll have to take a few.

Oh, Mary, this is beautiful! I love old barns in the first place, but seeing you quilt one is something else. Is this a barn you know?

Hi Jenclair,
Yes, this is a barn I know. It's the one at my parents' old place, so I can say I grew up in this barn (so to speak). I was in 2nd grade when we moved to Plaucheville. All during my growing up the barn was actually used since mom and dad farmed. As they got older they kept fewer animals, so my boys had the pleasure of the barn as a big club house. Someone added the rope swing, which made it official: When the adults were ready to go, we could round up our kids at the barn! The quilt is not true to the way things look now--it's more true to my memoriies and a few extras that my boys wanted me to add. The "junk" under the eaves, well there was always junk there...I just put in what I had. Thanks for the comment. I really love the quilt. It's just so personal and making it was great therapy (on the cheap)
