Building Blocks 2 ~~ finished!

The second of the granddaughter quilts is complete! And just in time for their move.  We're hoping that they will be moving to the new house in a couple of weeks.  Although they are not moving very far, it can be stressful for little ones.

Rather than give them the quilts now, I've decided to wait and give them once the move happens.  Hopefully the quilts will help them to feel comfortable in the new house as well as in their new beds.

Here the two quilts are together. They don't quite fit on the rod that I have set up in the studio.  The weather was cold but bright, still taking pictures was not in the cards for me today thanks to the mud.

It's so deep that even the puppies, who love to roll in stinky soft stuff, refuse to get off the porch.  The pictures of the most recent finish begin here.

Taking pics in the studio wasn't a total disaster, but it wasn't great either.  Still, I manage to get lots of photos.  Because of that, I took close-ups and whole quilt pics.

To get the entire quilt in the pic, though I had to hang each one separately and sideways.  Most of these pics are sideways or upside down.  Hey, they're quilts and can be put on the bed in any almost direction, right?  That's my thinking anyway.

These pictures are of the two quilts, of course.  But since I haven't decided which one goes to which grand, I figured I'd give them equal time and space.  The pictures below are of the quilt finished first.

These are wonderful quilts Mary! So bright and fun! I really love them. They will be a huge help to your grandchildren in making the adjustment to the new house. Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog too. I wrote back over there as I couldn't email you back (no-reply blogger). My kids have moved a few times as my husband is in the military and comfy quilts make a big difference.

Love the crinkly texture on these quilts! Love the colours you chose and all that delicious negative space. Glad I found you- you come in as a no-reply blogger and I haven't been able to contact you. Started a nice reply about Angela Walters to your comment on my blog, only to find it was going into the ether...if you can send or include your email on your next comment, we can chat! "close enough is good enough" is another of her sayings that I was saying in the disappeared reply that I'd like to do in fabric. :-)

Way to go, Mary. These look great individually and even better together, and what a lovely idea, to give them when your girls get to their new home; I bet they'll be thrilled.

Thanks Kaja and Karen! I have to say I like the quilts more and more. Really, everyone is so encouraging, and the comments are extra special coming from so many quilters whose work I admire. I'll be by to visit your blogs soon, I promise. In the meantime, have a wonderful quilty week!
