Brown. Chocolate. Sienna. Coffee. Caramel. Bronze. Dirt. Wood. Umber. Acajou. The shades of brown can be interesting, and they surely do invite us to taste, look closer, even smell deeply (think mocha). Let's look at a few brown items and let them inspire us. I'll try to stay away from just foods. *smile*
Now here's the thing about brown quilts--the brown is generally paired with another color, such as this blue or red. Because brown is almost a neutral, though, it works really well with almost any color. Just don't add too many different colors as they will all become muddy and lose the contrast that makes a quilt sparkle.
Even pink and green look good on a brown background. I can't imagine that these three colors would have ever been considered together when I was young.
